TDRS Gallery

The first ever illustration of Fredrik the F-class. Its drawn in the autumn of 2012 and as you can see, i wasn't the best in the field back then.
Right from the start, pencil was my tool and crayons used for coloring.
Another of those first drawings, this was drawn in early 2013 and pictures Fredrik during a visit to the water tower.

The digital age: inspired by fellow artists on the web i decided to go digital. Here is the example of the same illustration as pictured above, a slight improvement but still miles away from the finished product!

an example from the 2nd edition of the first TDRS book. Here we have Fredrik at the copenhagen central beside the highspeed train Mogens. This book will be repulished and work from it can be seen in this gallery.
As the digital age went on, improvement slowly happened. Here we're one year ahead of the last illustration, namely in 2014. This illustration would later go on to become the logo which in 2015 was to be replaced by a newer one. You can also on this page see the improvement from this logo and to the new one, drawn only a year after this one!

another example from 2014. This time we have moved to the island of Bornholm where this illustration shows a little of what can be expected by book 7 (stories from the Bornholm railways). It also serves as a tribute to the DBJ society which are recreating a loco that, that in its exterior are to represent one of the original DBJ steam engines. The loco is seen here on the turntable on Rønne as DBJ 16. Of course this scene has never happened, but one can still imaigne how it would have looked having that loco running in the old days.

Book 7 has no publish date when this is written but maybe some work from it will pop up on this page in the future!

2015 brought with it some luck, cause the tablet which had caused troubles for months and months, was starting tot work again. At the same time i thought it to be time that i tried out something diffrent when it came to art software. I choose Sketchbook Pro as i had it laying around on my mac. The outcome was surprising! As you can see here the first test illustration was far from a disapointment!

The illustration shows the chacracter "Dagmar" in her rebuilt form. Dagmar will be the first TDRS character to have her own book for herself, portraying her story from construction to preservation. The books is produced in collaboration with Project 825 which are aiming to restory the engine to running condition!

And while speaking of Dagmars book lets have another example. Cause while writing on the book it became obvious to me, that there could be a great chance to tell some basic story of the danish railway aswell. So here is another test illustration for an illustration that are going to be in the final edition of The Story Of Dagmar.

But another character is also to find himself in a book soon. Namely the red highspeed train "Mogens" who in 2015 could celibrate his 80th anniversary! Mogens features in the book: Elias & the highspeed train.

"Dagmar and Mogens"
originally drawn as the christmas card of 2015, this illustration clearly showns the main characters of two books. Namely "Elias and the highspeed train" (left) and "the story of Dagmar" (right). Both books are planned to be published in 2016.

Advert for what could've been one of the published books in 2016: "Elias and the highspeed train" sadly it didn't make to the intended deadline.

A new character you can meet in "The story of Dagmar". Finn is an F III class and you can read more about him in the coming book.

This little advert, started its life as an illustration for the book "a year of trainspotting 2015" which was converted to a drawing of Dagmar (D 825). You can read more about her in the book "The story of Dagmar".

And its this book that the poster is advertising for. Here we see Dagmar departing with a goods train around the 1930's. The poster was inspired by an old state railway poster for the goods department.
